so I guess it's up to the end user on that one.Īs for an actual download location, all I can say is "It's out there. But the XP stuff is still pretty questionable since it's using actual Microsoft code - remember: you don't own a Microsoft OS, you just license it. Ok, so I took a look at the current iteration of Hiren's BootCD, version 14, and it seems as though everything on it comes across as legit, almost all of it as actual freeware, with some shareware products (which would probably go against their licensing agreements but that's for those software developers to argue, not me). You're better off just making your own UBCD4Win and keeping yourself safe and not banned. I know it has a "mini XP" installation that can run off the CD using WinPE and that alone is distribution of commercial code, actually. Yes, some strides have been made to reduce the amount of commercial software included on the disc but even in it's most current form, there is most likely something on there that is a commercial product and hence stolen aka pirated if it's included. If you run Acronis True Image itself, from a boot CD, you can backup any brand of HD. Likewise Maxblast wants to see at least one Maxtor drive. Also tried SATA3 on the MB with a good SATA data cable.Hiren's BootCD has traditionally been considered a warez-laden product and is typically not up for discussion around here. PS: To use the Seagate program you must have at least one Seagate drive, internally mounted in your system. Repeat the earlier procedure and Acronis gives same error, needs two HDD's to clone. So I boot the PC normally with the 2cd drive attached, go into the Bios this time and it's there. I plugged-in the Seagate portable and it was detected and seen in explorer. Acronis® True Image OEM is an integrated software suite that allows you to back up your entire disk drive or selected partitions, clone your operating system, restore from data previously backed up and create bootable media from USB drives or CD/DVD discs. So after finding out the new Dell won't recognize F12 on my existing nice standard Lenova wired keyboard(?), I placed the CD in the drive, power off the PC, attach my HDD to the upper black cable and power cable, and power on, hit F12, boot off the CD, and Acronis does not see the second drive. So the boot to the second partition was successful. Acronis ® True Image OEM Download, Installation, and Activation Instructions. Acronis itself was never installed on the my old main HD, takes up room and goes thru the same procedure. So usually on my HP, I place my version 2016 Acronis boot CD in, power off the PC, attach my target HDD and boot off the CD and clone, using the Shutdown after cloning option (or else if rebooted, your cloned drive won't be boot-able). Got my new Dell XPS 8930 in, loaded a bunch of software on the only drive, a 512gb SSD PCIe card, and went to clone it to a Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm SATA HDD.
